BY HILLARY OMITI,
Migori County public transport operators Sacco officials had called on the conductors from the region not to take advantage of the school opening situation and hike fare for the travelers and the school children.
That was according to Rongo public transport operators Sacco chairman Mr.Peter Okoth who said that they had received reports of some of the conductors hiking fare to the travelers which was against the law calling.
While speaking to press in Rongo yesterday Mr.Okoth called on the conductors to maintain the standard fare as the public should report to them in case they came across such conductors for action.
He at the same time said that as Matatu operators they had enhanced the covid-19 protocols despite the Matatu sector now regaining its operations with the opening of the schools urging the Matatu operators not to take advantage of the situation and flout the covid-19 protocols.
The chairman at the same time took the opportunity to call on the passengers to help in dealing with issues of excess passengers among the Matatu operators on the road adding that the police should also take action against such individuals saying that was the only way issues of excess can be addressed on the road.
