A family in Osiri, Kisumu West Constituency, who for the last two years been living in a dilapidated house got help from Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron.
Elijah Ogenga and his wife Caroline Juma will be sleeping easy after years of spending in the cold after their efforts to put up a house falter.
MP Oron made it clear that he is a philanthropist whose work cuts across the Nyanza region, the reason why he is offering support in a constituency not represented by him.
He said the plight of the family of six struck him when he saw the house and quickly mobilized resources through friends to put up a decent house for the family.
The MP said his efforts have delivered the family from a porous house, as they were prone to diseases caused by extreme cold at night and even attack by scrawling mammals.
Speaking in Osiri on Saturday when he led the construction of an iron sheet house to the family, Oron said he will help any needy cases without looking at the boundary of his constituency.
Community health workers working in the village identified the needy issue before seeking help from well-wishers.
Oron said he will ensure the family is uplifted economically as he promised to give seed money to help the mother of the children to start business.
He promised to ensure he schools their first daughter who sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) last year and is set to join form one.
The family was overjoyed narrating the harrowing journey they have had in the village as they moved from a rented house at Orare along the shores of Lake Victoria.
